National Rehabilitation Month

Rehabilitation is an important part in seniors’ lives. It helps them get back to the way they were before any medical problems set in. A senior with poor mobility and balance may need help getting around, while an older adult with arthritis or who has had a stroke may need physical therapy or other rehabilitation services to regain the use of his or her body.

Rehabilitation can also be used to help seniors recover from injuries and illnesses that might have caused permanent disability. When a senior has been injured, he or she may not be able to return to his or her regular activities as easily as before. If a senior has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, he or she may need 24-hour care at home so that no one else tries to do too much for him or her.

Rehabilitation services can also help seniors who are suffering from depression take better care of themselves through medication and therapy sessions.
